Undergraduate Year 1 – Welcome Week Hub

Welcome to the School of English and Drama family. Please read this information carefully to get an overview of Welcome Week, which is from Monday 20 to Thursday 23 September 2021.

We’re delighted you’ll be joining us next week as a Queen Mary student. Welcome Week begins on Monday 20th September, introducing you to everything you’ll need to know before teaching starts from Monday 27th September. The School of English and Drama has provided a range of induction materials, videos, timetable and activities on QMplus here so please familiarise yourself with this information before Welcome Week begins. Please note – you are able to view the SED Welcome Week and Getting Started 2021-22 QMplus page as a guest however you may have a better experience if you log in with your QM ITS credentials. Links to join your online programme talks and sessions, as well as personalised groupings for your Phakama,

Advisor and e-learning sessions will appear on this page from Monday 20 September.  Welcome Week activities are an integral part of your QMUL learning experience, will give you a taste of what is to come and introduce you to some key staff involved in the delivery and support of your programme.  

Don’t forget that the Queen Mary mobile app includes lots of handy campus maps, links to your timetable, Library study space bookings, and much more – download the app to discover your tailored information.  We look forward to meeting you all at our first online session on Monday 20 September at 11.00 a.m!

Undergraduate Year 1 – English and Drama Welcome Week Overview – 20-24 Sept 2021

Welcome to the School of English and Drama family. Please read this information carefully to get an overview of Welcome Week, which is from Monday 20 to Thursday 23 September 2021.

We hope you have successfully enrolled and connected to your QMUL ITS account which includes access to things like the Apple or Android app, timetables and your email. If not please live chat with IT services to sort this out.  All activities for your individual course are compulsory and are a really important part of starting your degree. We recommend printing this or copying it into notes on your device and highlighting. You could make a list of activities and put them in your diary. All the links to your online sessions and locations for in-person events will appear on our welcome area, which will be available early next week, we will send you another message to let you know when we launch it.  Your groups for Phakama, Meet Your Advisor and e-Learning session times will be emailed to you separately next week. You will only attend one of each of these sessions. Teaching begins on 27 September and you can access your timetable via the app and website. 

Our student social is on Monday 20 September from 18:00 at Genesis Cinema. To book your ticket, popcorn and a drink please press the big blue button…

Welcome Week

Welcome week is the first week of Semester 1.

Monday 20 – Friday 24 September 2021

Please make sure you keep this week free as it includes so many useful inductions, the welcome fair (freebies), and opportunities to meet your advisor and your fellow students.

Teaching begins the week after – from 27 September – and all your sessions should be on your online timetable from the end of August.

Do these things and get ready…

Going to uni is a big life step, so here are 5 things you can do now to help make it a smooth transition:
